    An inspiring spiritual read

    Spirituality in the 21st Century, by Frank P. Daversa, is a contemporary rendering, with practical and insightful teaching about how to achieve a more fulfilling and spiritually enlightened life in our modern times. It is nicely written, fluid and easy to read. Although the author underscores his own religious perspective, he also presents a broader scope about all religions and teachings and emphasizes the important fundamental aspects in the achievement of inner peace and spiritual fulfillment. The book is laced with contemporary and past examples, real to most all of us, which help to animate and illustrate the points he makes. And moreover, it strikes a cord in the reader, as the author brings home the reality that materialism and materialistic success, the paradigm for happiness in our culture today, is not the important happiness that we take with us on our spiritual journey after this life. Noteworthy quotations from the book, which illustrate some of the material are:
    “The purpose of religion is not to build beautiful churches and temples, but to cultivate positive human qualities such as tolerance, generosity, and love.”
    “We are all human beings before we are Americans, Russians, Italians, Chinese, Catholics, Jews, etc. We can value these traits as long as we don’t define our totality in terms of them. Allow your compassion for your fellow humans to reach beyond national or religious labels and realize our underlying humanity.”
    This is a book that can only expand one’s perspective and horizons. And considering the amount of mental bombardment that we are exposed to every day, through media, television and other advertising, regaling the virtues of making and spending more money, the simple and practical approach to inner happiness, as extolled in this book, are worth the two hours it will take you to read it.

    Spiritual Humanism

    Spirituality in the 21st Century is spirituality for any time and any place in your personal journey. The author has given the reader a definition that is so very clear and clean that you are wondering why you didn’t think of it yourself. Frank P. Daversa offers a contemporary view on spirituality, without labels and restrictions, for our highly reactive world which will help us find that deeper meaning to the life we long for. If you are on a spiritual path, then this book is a must for your shelf.

    A Spiritually Enlightenmet Guidebook

    Author Daversa offers readers a guide to identify and understand spirituality for themselves. He admits his primary framework is Catholicism, but that any background will find value in his life discoveries. From his years of research, study, and personal experience he suggests a framework for individuals to become more complete
    during their life journey. His five principles toward spiritual enlightenment are:

    “1-Accept God into your life and Jesus Christ as your savior;
    2-Complete your formal education;
    3-Learn more about yourself, your health, and your mental well-being;
    4-Learn more about the needs of others;
    5-Learn more about the natural environment in which we live.”

    As the author explains how one can embrace and optimize each of these principles, he draws upon the teachings of historical figures who he feels have epitomized these higher levels of enlightenment. He quotes those who have truly lead people rather than dictate to them. His belief in everyone taking responsibility for their actions is emphasized by examples from his life as from historical events.

    One of the messages he delivers, which resonated with me, is that the loving and caring family in which a child is raised is the foundation for making responsible choices in life. Those who started in a dysfunctional or broken family can use his principles to achieve a better life and higher goals to positively impact the world and every man: raise their spirituality.

    I recommend this International Best Seller to those who want to grow personally and learn ways to give back to the world in positive ways for future generations. It is easy to read and take away values which are meaningful to the individual. Not everyone is in the same starting or ending point on their journey. Spirituality in the 21st Century will make you think.

    Spirituality and religion; two peas in a pod

    Spirituality and oneness hold a different meaning for every individual. It might be considered the same for some while others might take spirituality as a more religious phenomenon and oneness as a source that unites humanity. The understanding and acceptance is left open for interpretation.

    Revolutionizing spirituality for today

    How we feel about spirituality in the 21st century is quite different to what it was in the past. Now it is important to have everything aligned with the fast development and non stop changes around us. I found the ideas and concepts presented in this book quite subversive and thus, the author expects us to judge what part be fiction and what aspect is the actual truth. Even with its shocking and some far fetched revelations about spirituality as seen in today’s world, this book is a great way of introspection into our soul and mind.
